2020 Chieftain Golf Outing Cancelled
The current COVID-19 health crisis and uncertainty of the virus remains a challenging
time for our entire community, our schools, and our businesses.
After considerable thought and discussion, the Dowagiac Chieftain Golf Committee has
reluctantly made the difficult decision to cancel the 17 th Annual Chieftain Golf Outing
this year. The decision was based on the understanding that above all else we need to
keep all our families, friends, students, volunteers and golfers safe during this pandemic.
The Committee members appreciate the last 16 years of incredible support of this event
for the Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation and the Dowagiac Athletic Boosters. The
cancellation of this fundraiser will be a huge financial setback for the upcoming school
year for these organizations and will impact all students and athletes of Dowagiac Union
Schools in grades K-12.
This spring we will be awarding $7500 in scholarships to 15 member of the DUHS
Graduating Class of 2020. These scholarships are the direct result of the community
support at the Chieftain Golf Outing last year.
We understand the financial strain businesses and our past supporters are under during
this crisis. However, we are hopeful that all our friends who have the ability will do
what they can financially to help these two organizations.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding and we look forward to another
successful Chieftain Golf Outing in June 2021.
Stay safe. Be smart.
Go Chiefs!
