Our Chieftain Choral took Dowagiac United to new levels! The 8th grade Chieftain Choir and the combined DUHS Chamber Choir & Chorale achieved exactly the same score in both performance and sight reading. Both groups walked away with solid 2nd division ratings.
The 8th graders were praised by the judges for their projection, stage presence, and memorization of the French text. They got their highest marks in diction, rhythm, interpretation, and presentation.
The DUHS singers won over the judges with their professionalism, projection, energy, and legato. Their highest scores were in pitch, diction, rhythm, and interpretation. Soloists Clayton Miller and Alexis Ross were singled out for special praise for their performances in our first song. In the sight reading room, they rose to the challenge of SATB sight reading despite severely unbalanced sections due to absences.
"I am ridiculously proud of our young singers" (Choir instructor Ms. Korth). Their performances represented Dowagiac with musicianship, grace, and professionalism. Please join me in congratulating them on their success!
